Navigating your insurance claim
Step 1: Contact a Qualified Contractor that is licensed, bonded and insured.
If you are reading this insurance claim procedure, you have taken the first step insuring a positive contracting experience. Check if the contractor is a member of the Better Business Bureau. Check if the contractor is local or if they are “Storm Chasers”. Foremost Restoration is a locally owned and operated company serving all Indiana.
Step 2 : File a claim with your insurance agent or insurance company.
Contact your insurance company to notify them you have suffered storm related damage and you need to file a claim. Questions to ask your insurance carrier are : what is your deductible, is your policy a replacement cost policy or actual cash value policy, Your insurance company will then issue you a claim number. This claim number will be needed for future subsequent contact that you and your contractor will need to find your insurance estimate your adjuster wrote.
Step 3: Schedule an appointment with the insurance adjuster.
It is important that you and an insurance claim specialist from Foremost Restoration be present on inspection. Tell your insurance company you want your contractor present on the inspection. Reason being that our inspectors are trained to evaluate all damage to the property not just the roof? Our insurance claim specialists have a checklist to make sure all the property is inspected. There are many components to your house like roofing, siding, gutters, windows, screens, doors, garage doors and painting. Foremost Restoration uses the same software that 85% of insurance companies use. Lastly, inquire to the adjuster how long the report will take for your loss summary.
Step 4: Negotiating your insurance claim with your insurance carrier.
Don’t be surprised if your estimate from Foremost Restoration and your loss summary report from your insurance carrier do not match. Simply forward a copy of your loss report from your insurance company to our specialist to negotiate your claim. We will be more than happy to initiate contact with your insurance company to reach an agreed upon settlement. Upon Agreement from all parties to a final Replacement cost Value(RCV), your insurance company will cut you a check for the Actual Cash Value(ACV). This figure is calculated by subtracting depreciation from the RCV. Depreciation is a percentage your insurance adjuster will apply on the age and condition of the products damaged on your house. Once your insurance company verifies that Foremost Restoration LLC, has completed your project, they will cut you a second check equal to the value of the depreciation minus your deductible.
